Happy Birthday, Marla

Today, one of my sweet & wonderful friends will be joining me at 32 :)  Happy Birthday, Marla.  Marla & I played softball together in college and yes, it's been almost 14 years. I'm not sure that could be right since it seems like just last year we were getting up early for practice, cruising the town(s) and winning some games & being shut in between 2 hotel joining doors.  :)

Marla is one of the best ball players I've ever met.  She is so competitive and loves everything about fast pitch softball.   I remember one game Marla was playing 2nd base & had to tag the runner.  The runner slid & stood up on Marla's leg.  Mind you, we wore metal cleats in those games.  This left a huge gash in Marla's leg.  She was such a baller, she didn't even notice until our SS pointed it out.  Marla rubbed dirt in it & said, "It's fine, I can still play."  Well, she ended up going & getting stitches, A LOT OF STITCHES.

The PCC sophomores.....great times!!

I smile every time I think back to our College days.
As Marla had mentioned in her blog, we only live 30 miles away from each other & we still play summer ball together.  I have to agree with her when she said we should get together more often .  I always have a great time with Marla Hooch   :)

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter.  Unfortunately, we didn't get to go see my family.  I love spending time with my family & when any holiday passes that I don't get to see them brings such a sad feeling.  I love them & miss them so much.

My kids raked in the candy this year.....I'm not sure that's a good thing :)

State Band & Prom

Let me just start this off by saying that I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful step son.  He's such a good kid and I love watching him grow in everything he does.  When my hubby & I first started dating Dylan had just finished 1st grade.  Time has flown by way too fast & now he's a freshman in high school.

This week he competed in State Band and they received a 1 (which is the best you can do) and I loved hearing them play.

Then, it was prom......wait, what.....prom......he's just a freshman & it really doesn't seem possible.  Talk about growing up right before your eyes.  He's dating a junior and they both looked wonderful!!

                                           The big group :)

                                           Just the guys.

Art Project

I decided to be crafty and make something for K & C's room.  The reason I decided to do this is the fact that I am  SO sick of picking up coats & backpacks up off the floor!!  The boys can't reach our coat rack so they figure throwing their stuff on the floor is the next best thing.

Plus, they needed something decorative on their walls.

I've never used Mod Podge before, but I gave it a try & loved it.  It was really easy & I thought it turned out pretty nice.

I already had some scrap booking paper that I really liked.

Then, with a quick trip to Hobby Lobby I found the rest of my materials.
Wooden plaque for $1.99 each.
Wooden letters, $.99 each

I already had some brown craft paint.  I used it to paint the edges of my letters & plaque.

Let the Mod Podging begin.  I used Mod Podge to glue the paper to my letters & plaques and then I let it dry for 15 minutes.  After that I gave all of them a coat of Mod Podge and let them dry.

Finished project.  I hot glued the letters to the board and then screwed in the hanging hooks.

Hanging on their wall. No more coats of the floor, please!!!!

My Birthday

Today is my birthday and it's been a great weekend so far.  We did a lot of celebrating yesterday.  My hubby & I took the boys to the movie HOP.  It was cute & they all did so good in the theatre.  After the movie we headed over to the mall to get some quick haircuts for the boys.

Since all of them did such a good job of sitting still we let them bounce on those trampoline/bungee things. I'm not real sure what they're called :)
                                          Kadyn getting strapped in.
                                          Cooper getting ready to go.

Kadyn & Cooper LOVED jumping on them.  Kadyn couldn't do enough flips.  That was his favorite part! I got a work out just watching.  I was laughing so hard at the two of them & the crazy things they were trying to do :)

Today we are just relaxing and enjoying the weather.  Maybe we'll have birthday cake tonight, that's if I make one.  :)  My husband did get me a beautiful arrangement of roses.  They smell so nice, he's the best!!

I decided to make a cake & the boys sang to me. I'm such a lucky mommy!!!!
